Welcome to Horizon Elementary!

Welcome to Harrisburg’s newest elementary school – Horizon Elementary! Horizon staff opened our doors to 170 students in the fall of 2016. Horizon staff along with collaborative efforts from students, parents, and the community strive to provide a safe learning environment in which each child can maximize his/her learning potential.

Students’ individual needs can be met through a variety of pathways at Horizon Elementary. Each classroom teacher strives to meet the diverse needs of students through flexible math groups, guided reading groups, and various technology applications. Academic experiences will be complemented with scheduled “specials” classes taught by teachers in the areas of guidance, library, art, music, and PE.

Support staff include the following: reading specialist, math specialist, technology integrationist, behavior specialist, school psychologist, speech/language therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist, nursing services, English Limited Language Services, and special education. Students who qualify for an accelerated curriculum may choose Tiger Trek (enrichment) or Tiger Reserve (housed at Endeavor).

Horizon is also home to the elementary behavior program (Tiger Learning Center-TLC) for the district. Students who are referred to attend this program may come from any of the 5 other elementary schools. Students in this program focus on social skills, coping skills, and alternative replacement behaviors while continuing onward on their academic path.

We look forward to and welcome visitors to our school to come see what is on the “Horizon” for our learners!
