Homecoming at Horizon is about so much more than dressing up; it is also an opportunity to bring our entire school community together, celebrate our students, strengthen connections, and begin building traditions that are uniquely H-School.
We kicked off the day with an all-school assembly filled with energy, excitement, and plenty of Tiger spirit. Every class had the opportunity to participate in relay races, giving our students a chance to compete, cheer for their classmates, and represent their classroom teams.
The competition was fierce—and in the end, 2W took the victory to become our relay race champions! The excitement in the gym was contagious, and watching students cheer each other on was one of the best parts of the day.
But the fun didn't stop with the races.
We spent the remainder of the day participating in Homecoming-themed activities focused on community building, teamwork, connection, and celebration. Students had opportunities to work with classmates, build relationships, laugh together, and experience the joy of being part of a school community.
Days like this matter.
School is about academics, of course, but it is also about creating a place where students know they belong. It is about building relationships, developing school pride, celebrating one another, and creating shared experiences that students will remember.
Our goal was to help our students see that they aren't just members of a classroom—they are part of something bigger. They are Horizon Tigers, and they are also part of the larger Harrisburg Tiger community.
We want to intentionally create traditions that our students can look forward to, participate in, and eventually pass on to the students who come after them. We want our traditions to reflect who we are: connected, joyful, student-centered, team-oriented, and a little bit wild and precious!
Today was a great reminder that community doesn't just happen. We build it. We celebrate it. We invest in it.
